Attorney John R. Harrison is a Shareholder who protects the rights – and the assets – of seniors and people with special needs. He works with families to develop estate plans, to protect their wealth, and to ensure that their wishes are fulfilled over the long-term, including serving as trustee or guardian when family cannot fill that important role. He also helps his clients with probate and trust litigation, and the maintenance of public benefits.
Notably, John served as lead counsel in the Ohio Supreme Court case that guaranteed the rights of wards under guardianship, which led to counsel being appointed at court expense in review hearings of those who cannot afford their own lawyer. (McQueen v Cuyahoga County Probate Court, 135 Ohio St.3d 291, 2013 Ohio 65.)
John serves on the boards of the Milestones Autism Organization and the NEOMED Foundation. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association’s Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Section and Elder and Special Needs Law Committee.
John received his B.A. degree from the University of Michigan and his J.D. degree with honors from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He is admitted to practice before the Courts of the State of Ohio, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Above all, John knows that the true value of an advocate is spending time getting to know clients and their wishes. If you wish to get to know him, he regularly publishes blogs and articles and speaks on topics related to disability and elder law. See our Events Calendar for upcoming events.
