Attorney Linda Gorczynski is an associate in the Cleveland office. Her focus is special education law, in which she advises parents in their pursuit to obtain needed educational services for their disabled children. Having previously represented school districts in the area of special education law, Linda has a well-rounded view of special ed. Her work experience includes representation at IEP and ETR meetings, meditation, negotiations, manifestation and expulsion hearings, facilitated meetings, and due process. She has authored several articles and delivered presentations to groups large and small on employment and special education laws, trends, and updates.
Additionally, Linda is a member of the firm’s public sector practice group, where she represents governmental agencies, such as county boards of developmental disabilities, in contractual matters and in litigation. She had successfully advocated for families whose state waiver services were being threatened or reduced.
Linda comes to Hickman & Lowder with a strong litigation background. She has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of civil matters including personal injury, medical malpractice, lemon law and ADA claims. She has also defended unemployment compensation claims and complaints to the Ohio Civil Rights Commission and advised public and private organizations with regard to various labor and employment issues.
Graduating cum laude from the University of Akron School of Law, Linda received her Juris Doctorate degree in 1999. While at the U of A, she competed nationally as a select member of the Trial Team and earned a position on the Law Review. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from John Carroll University, graduating cum laude.
Linda was admitted to the Ohio bar in 1999 and is an active member of both the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association.
