ADA 20th Anniversary

US department of justice sealThe other day, I mentioned to a young man wheeling a cart full of pastries and fruit along Cleveland’s E. 9th Street sidewalk (with all its bumps and cracks and curb-cut puddles) how it really makes you realize what a person in a wheelchair must have to contend with…  Our Sheffield Village office now complies with the various requirements intended to provide reasonable accommodations to employees and clients with disabilities.  I heard a nice piece by Ben Mattlin for NPR reflecting on the past 20 years under the Americans with Disabilities Act this morning, including how the ADA gave him language (other than cursing or crying) to deal with his day-to-day encounters.  Click here to listen.
